The Rolex Explorer II reference 216570, introduced in 2011 for the 40th anniversary of the Explorer II collection, features a larger 42mm Oystersteel case, a significant departure from previous 40mm models. It is powered by the in-house Rolex Caliber 3187, an automatic movement with GMT functionality, a Parachrom hairspring, and Paraflex shock absorbers. This model brought back the distinctive large, bright-orange, arrow-shaped 24-hour hand, reminiscent of the original 1971 Explorer II (ref. 1655). The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters (330 feet) and is offered with either a black or a white ("Polar") dial with Chromalight luminous markers.
